Good stick tricks to do on drum set
April 7th, 2009 by admin

Hello drum players,

Very good morning to all of you. You all know that I play drums very well. The irony is that, the only trick I know is spinning the drumstick. I should probably also want to be able to fake spin. One that I really want to learn is hitting the drum with a stick that’s spinning.

There cant be any other sound other than drum beats that makes your feet immediately tap on the floor, the moment you hear that. Drum beats have such a unique power in them. Even small children like drum beats and dance according to the beat.

Basically, I’m looking for tricks that you can consistently pull off in front of an audience; nothing crazy that would take years to get down.

here are some easy cool drum tricks

1. Throw a drumstick up in the air and catch it

2. Spin BOTH drum sticks in both hands while playing the Hi-hat with your left foot.

3. No fake spins….you really have to learn how to twirl your drumsticks like Tommy Lees does it.

4. Another cool stick trick it to do a snare solo on your snare and click your sticks like doing a Paradiddle. Study a lot of Salsa drumming and you’ll see what I mean. I learned this trick from watching Salsa drummers.

Hope this helps and good luck. Be careful not to hit yourself in the eyes with your drumsticks. I’ve done it a few times & it really hurts! Be careful…& have fun
