Get the attention of your Audience
Oct 10th, 2009 by admin

Hey geeks,

Just like all of your different effects, you want to make the approaching lines or patter your own. Walk up, or if standing next to them already, go ahead and get their attention either by starting to talk to them or pulling out your cards etc.

Sometimes I may just walk up, shake their hand (firm grip, but not too tight, just to show confidence), introduce myself, produce my deck (from a palm) and go into whatever patter “I’m doing an experiment for school on probability and people’s ability to pay attention to certain actions.”

Be confident, create your own lines, make it your own and make it to fit your character

Your Magic depends on your personality
Oct 8th, 2009 by admin

Hey all,

Not all the different kinds of magic will fit into a single person. Each and everyone have their own style.

Find something to fit your personality, but most of all, make sure you HAVE a personality. Be friendly, be mysterious, be whoever you want to be but make sure to be someone and to have some kind of feeling in your voice. Blaine may get reactions, but not everyone would get the same kind of reactions, and something called chemistry in their Mind. You as a magician should create such a reaction among your audience.

Don’t go with that monotone same sounding almost bored voice. It doesn’t sounds very exciting or intriguing. You want them to WANT to see what you have to show.

Amaze your visitors through your Magic
Oct 6th, 2009 by admin

Hey all,
Basically, if you’ve seen Blaine and similar people performing on the street your first thought might be the whole “Would you like to see something?” approach. Or perhaps “Would you like to see some magic?”
When you think about it though, I mean REALLY think about that from the other perspective, I mean sure, it gets the point across, but does it sound that great? Not really. It’s just not something I would recommend using.
Imagine someone walking up with a deck of cards in their hands asking if you want to see something. Not an interesting approach.
Really, I would usually start by introducing myself, walk up shake their hand etc. “Hey, my name is ____ ____, I’m a local/close-up/whatever performing magician, could I have a minute of your time? Perhaps show you a few things I’ve been working on?” (by the way, telling someone you are still “working on this” when doing an effect catches them more off guard as it seems like your just practicing even though you’ve practiced it so many times before and have it down).

In performing street magic best way to open a conversation and starting a performance
Oct 4th, 2009 by admin

Warm greetings,
I really want to do some street magic to some bystanders, customers in a restaurant and etc.
But i could not seem to find the right words to open or engage in a conversation leading to me performing magic.
Well you could say this is a problem of communication, but still I talk with everyone with ease, but when it comes to magic, I lose confidence, and I dont know where to start.
There are many ways to avoid this. One way would be to walk up to a person and saying, “Hey, you dropped something!” They’ll turn to see you holding an item. You could reach out to give it to them, only for it to have disappeared from your hand and reappeared in the other. If this hooks them they may ask to see more, otherwise you can ask if they want to see more.

How to write a Magic Report
Aug 25th, 2009 by admin

Hi all,
Let us discuss something on how to write tips about magic. This could be useful for both beginners as well as Advanced users. We can use this place to discuss several things on how to write a “magic report”.
The first thing that everyone looks at it is the design. It is the most important of all the other things that we do.

Moreover this cant be compromised for resource consuming. Of course its a world known truth that More design requires more space, but still we should take care of all those things.
You are free to design this page using your own creativity and matching your particular topic’s needs. Use style sheets, pictures, tables, diagrams, screenshots etc. as appropriate. Your report will be evaluated both for content and presentation (ease of understanding).

Tips to play magic at a gathering
Aug 7th, 2009 by admin

Hello all,

I would like to start Magic at a Gathering. I’ve read all the rules and regulations, and I’ve read the tutorial hundreds of times. I still remember my primary school teacher advising me that Whenever you practice doing some tricks, be sure to have a friend or a family member watch how you do it.

Their feedback is very important so you will know if what you are doing is right. It also wouldn’t hurt to record yourself with a video camera then play it back later.

Currently, I’m leaning toward building a red and white combination deck. However, I have no idea where to start. So I ask, are there any tips and suggestions that would help me build my red-white deck? Or some that will help me in general playing?

Direct TV

Hey pals,

An important alert on this. Not everyone would know this. Even I dint know this before reading. This is ultimate form of enjoyment. Television has almost become like internet. The benefits are many.

Consumers who purchased DirecTV equipment subscribe to various packages of DirecTV programming for which the subscriber pays a monthly fee. A subscriber also can order pay-per-view events and movies. DirecTV contracts with and pays program providers such as cable networks, motion picture distributors, sports leagues, event promoters, and other programming rights holders, for the right to distribute their programming to its subscribers.
